Reflection is the bouncing back of light when it hits a surface. The laws of reflection are precise and universal. First, the angle of incidence equals the angle of reflection — both angles measured from an imaginary line called the normal, which is perpendicular to the surface. Second, the incident ray, the reflected ray, and the normal all lie in the same plane. These laws apply to all reflecting surfaces, whether flat mirrors or curved ones.
