A distance-time graph is a visual representation of motion. Time is plotted on the horizontal axis and distance on the vertical axis. Different types of lines tell different stories. A straight diagonal line means constant speed. A horizontal line means the object is stationary — no distance is being covered. A curved line means the speed is changing. The steeper the line, the faster the object is moving.
