A flower is a plant's reproductive organ. The male part β€” the stamen β€” produces pollen in structures called anthers. The female part β€” the pistil or carpel β€” has a sticky stigma at the top to catch pollen, a style, and an ovary containing the ovules that will become seeds. Petals attract pollinators with colour and scent. The whole structure is designed around one goal: get pollen to the stigma so fertilisation can occur.
